BID Sustainable St Ives Initiatives
- Royal Square Street Decorations – Made from recycled bottles and sugar cane, once tested this year they can be rolled out in other areas of the town.
- Reusable Cups for New Years Eve – Driving down single-use drinking vessels on the busiest night of the year for St Ives with up to 40K people celebrating in venues across town. This initiative is to stop plastic entering our ocean on the night and to reduce single use waste.
- Reusable takeaway drinks cups – To reduce the vast amount of single-use containers that end up in bins across town, leaving them overflowing. These single-use items also make up a huge amount of our litter in town as they are often discarded in the streets.
- Recycling Bins -Providing more large recycling bins in St Ives which are crucial, particularly around the Wharf where littering is a real issue.
- Water Fountains – We have installed 2 water fountains which are free to use and encourage people to bring their refillable vessels. These fountains are located on Porthmeor Beach and by West Pier toilets.
