St Ives Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed a new manager to support the town’s businesses and deliver key services and projects for the Cornish seaside town.

Sarah Hooper, who is also the Administrator for the St. Ives Lifeboat Station in a voluntary capacity, lives in the town with her husband and their two children who both attend local schools.

Sarah said: “I am delighted to be taking on the role of BID Manager. As a local resident, I am hugely passionate about engaging with local businesses and working closely with them to ensure the BID listens to their suggestions, understands their needs, and helps facilitate changes.

“BID investments in St. Ives have already had a huge impact and I am looking forward to building on the successes already achieved”.

Sarah has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and over 20 years’ experience in Business Management across the retail, hospitality, and education sectors. She brings a wealth of business experience and specialises in HR, recruitment and employment law as well as finance and communications.

In her most recent role within Education Management, Sarah has worked in partnership with key agencies such as the Police, Cornwall Council, Department of Education, NHS, transport operators, and Multi-Agency Trusts.

“I hope these connections prove valuable in my new role as BID Manager and I look forward to building new links and partnerships to deliver important investment and improvement opportunities over and above that provided by local and national government”.

“I see the position as an opportunity to deliver real impact in a town that I love. There really is nowhere like St. Ives, the culture, the beauty, the history and the community make it a very special place in which to live and work”.
