St Ives was brimming with festive cheer last night as Santa made a dramatic arrival by lifeboat, “rescued” by the RNLI in true St Ives style. Hundreds of excited onlookers gathered along the harbour to witness the magical moment, marking the start of the town’s Christmas celebrations.
After docking safely, Santa was pulled through the town in a festive procession by the St Ives Youth Rugby Team, spreading joy to all he passed. The atmosphere was electric as St Ives School choir serenaded the crowd with festive tunes before Santa’s arrival. Later, the St Ives Town Band filled Royal Square with music, adding to the festive spirit after the Christmas lights were switched on.
A snow machine added an extra sprinkle of magic, delighting children and adults alike. The lights were officially turned on by the Town Mayor and Santa himself, illuminating the streets with Christmas sparkle.
This fantastic event was brought to life by St Ives BID and St Ives in December, a voluntary group dedicated to making the holiday season special for the community. To ensure these cherished celebrations can continue next year, donations can be made to their GoFundMe campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/f/st-ives-in-december-christmas-2025.
Thank you to everyone who made the evening so memorable—let the festive season begin!
