St Ives Food and Drink Festival Update

We have been receiving lots of requests for information about the 2024 St Ives Food Festival and some of you may have already seen the following statement go out from our current festival organisers:

“After an amazing 5-year term, ILOW will no longer be organising the St Ives Food & Drink Festival. We would like to thank the Committee and St Ives BID for the opportunity, as well as all the attendees, sponsors, traders, chefs, musicians, performers, staff, suppliers, local residents and Porthminster Beach Café, who collectively made it such a special event to work on. Further plans will be announced soon but for any urgent queries please contact the Committee on Stivesfoodfestival@gmail.com”

The local CIC who owns this festival have taken this opportunity to make some changes and improvements to the event and the way it’s run moving forward which BID will continue to support. This year the festival will be taking a break whilst new organisation and infrastructure is put into place to bring the festival back better than ever. The festival will continue to take place in May on Porthminster Beach but we’re bringing the festival back to the community with local: food, produce, music, fringe events and much more. Without as much commercial content we need your support to keep the event going, it costs over £100,000 to put the Festival on in its current format – that’s for all the infrastructure, staffing, music and fun stuff that keeps everyone who comes to see us safe and happy.

This is where we are hoping our businesses step in for 2024. We are putting a call out to all businesses to get involved in either fundraising or raising the profile of the St Ives Food Festival in anticipation of the new and improved festival returning in 2025. On what would have been the food festival dates this year 17-19th May 2024 we already know from accommodation bookings there are lots of visitors booked to come to St Ives in the hope that the festival is happening, can all businesses interested in holding a ‘Food Festival Taster Sessions’ or ‘Food Festival at your table’ evening or weekend please contact us on info@stivesbid.co.uk and you will be added to a St Ives Food Festival Trail map.

If there are any chefs or venues out there who wish to help out with fundraising to make this event the best it can possibly e.g. chef demo’s or tasting menus in aid of the St Ives Food Festival with a percentage of the profits donated to the CIC then this would secure the continuing success of our festival. We hope to hold fundraising events throughout 2024 so please let us know ideas and dates so we can market them on our town’s official website and social media www.stives-cornwall.co.uk
