September Festival Press Release

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel have sent messages of support to the 2021 St Ives September Festival.

The Festival’s new sponsorship manager John Tyson aimed high by appealing to all the foreign heads of state who attended the recent G7 in Carbis Bay. And, while no financial “foreign aid” has been forthcoming, the leaders of Canada and Germany both sent their good wishes to the 15-day festival of music and arts which will take place from September 11 to 15 this year.

Prime Minister Trudeau, in a personally signed letter, wrote: “Earlier this year in June, I was delighted to be able to attend the G-7  Summit in Cornwall where I experienced the wonderful environment and  breathtaking scenery of St. Ives.
“It was easy to see why the St. Ives September Music Festival plays such an important role in the community.
“I know that last year, this festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19  pandemic, and that is why I would like to take the opportunity to thank  the dedicated organizers, volunteers, and sponsors for making this event possible.
Please accept my best wishes for (a) memorable and successful music festival!”

The German Chancellor’s representative Dietmar Penteker wrote: “We thank you very much for your invitation to Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel to become a sponsor of your September Festival.
“After evaluating your request we regret to inform you that the Chancellor is not able to accept your kind invitation. Let me express my very best regards to you and our appreciation for the
Festival.”
John Tyson said: “The foreign leaders all seemed to enjoy their time in Cornwall so I thought it was worth a try!
“The Japanese one was very tricky indeed! Trying to navigate their online enquiries form was challenging, to say the least.”
John has had more success closer to home with St Ives estate agents Millerson and A1 Cars the latest local companies to pledge their support by becoming sponsors of the 2021 St Ives September Festival.
