Business SOS Campaign

As it is in the media a lot at the moment I just wanted to let you know that St. Ives has signed up to the Business SOS Campaign.

As it is in the media a lot at the moment I just wanted to let you know that St. Ives has signed up to the Business SOS Campaign. The BID industry has once again taken a very proactive lobbying lead on the key issues affecting town, city and high street businesses, as it has done extensively over the past two years of the pandemic in particular.

The Business SOS campaign is putting significant pressure on Government to proactively address the huge issues of escalating costs and how this will potentially damage tens of thousands of businesses.

We as St. Ives BID, have signed up for the campaign, together with SW BIDs, doing whatever we can to support you. We also very much support campaigns and efforts by our sector partners at the Federation of Small Businesses and Chambers of Commerce.

The three-point plan of the Business SOS campaign centres around:

1. Reduce VAT

  • Headline rate reduced from 20% to 12.5%
  • Business energy bills reduced from 20% to 5% to match domestic billing

2. Business Rates Relief

  • 100% rate relief until 31st March 2023

3. Energy Rate Relief

  • A discounted kwh price on all business energy bills
